Feel free to add any more questions you'd like to have answered... Hopefully this post will be helpful, informative, and fun! :-)
These are the questions we have received from many of you.
#1 most popular question answered: No, we are not going to South Korea as missionaries. We are going as employees of the public school system.
#2: No, Daniel and I do not speak Korean. None whatsoever.
#3: No, we do not know how that will work.
#4: Yes, we should have internet while we are there. It may be a little while before we actually get the internet, but we will have it eventually.
#5: We are planning on staying one to two years. We signed a one-year contract. This contract may be renewed if we like it and if the schools like us. If we enjoy our time in SK, we may stay.
#6: We will both be teaching High School English. We will be at two separate high schools. Most teachers have their apartments within walking distance of their school. However, the recruiting agency isn't sure how it'll work with Daniel and I teaching at two schools.
#7: The plane ride will be long. Super long.
#8: We are SUPER excited.
Please post any further questions you may have. Those questions will be answered in a later post.
:-)
shouldn't you guys have more definite answers to some of those BIG questions?! especially where you will be living and if you'll even be living together....and how it's going to work if you don't speak Korean..... i know i'm pretty OCD but i would want to know that stuff before i committed... i promise i'm not trying to be debbie-downer, just making sure my dear friends are in good hands! :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it home safe, and not TOO wet!
ReplyDeleteAm reading the new book on S. Korea ~ and am sure to have info gleaned from it to send soon.
I did, however, find a new (to me) site on internet which you should check out (if you have not already done so). Google "Sokcho City" - then on the first results page which comes up - go to 3rd entry "Fantastical Adventure & Delight, City of......". Really great reading, pictures, and tour guides; all headings have sub-headings ie "Sightseeing" + sub headers, "Leisure & Sports" + subs, "Tourism" + subs. There are cruises up to about 2 hours which look great, and a submarine tour which, because the waters around Sokcho are so clear, makes for some beautiful underwater scenery. Amusing to me ~ it's obvious the descriptive phrases were written by someone for whom English is definitely a second language!
The bus trip from Seoul to Sokcho is "about 4 or 5 hours" long !
More as I find info ! :-)
P.S. Don't forget THE magic words: 'yes' = "ne"; 'no' = "anyo..animnida"; 'please' = "shipshiyo..seyo". snicker!
MORE ! Check this out.......
ReplyDeleteGoogle "visitkorea.or.kr", 5th entry down, "Panoramio - Photos ...."
Love you!
